Obituary of Malcolm Herbert Syer

SYER, Malcolm Herbert – Passed away peacefully, with his family at his side, at Peterborough Regional Health Centre, on Friday, May 3, 2019.  Malcolm of South Monaghan, at 86 years of age was the beloved husband of Joyce (nee Atchison) for 60 years.  Loving father of Cindy, Shelley McNeil (Jim) and Randy (Heidi), and proud grandfather of Justin, Eric, Trent, Tyson, Maddy, Spencer, Mitch and Kyra.  Dear brother of Thelma Sanderson (John) and Marion Graham. 

Malcolm was a lifelong resident of South Monaghan and simply loved his community.  He was a farmer of beef cattle for 35 years, had a career as a Plumber and Electrician for 40 years and spent 23 years doing custom bailing.  A longtime member of Bailieboro/Springville United Church, Malcolm served on the Manse Committee for many years.  He volunteered his time on the Millbrook Medical Board for 30 years, 19 years on Council for South Monaghan, 10 years with Lang Pioneer Village and 6 years as a Sunday School Superintendent.  At the same time, Malcolm was the family consultant for any home maintenance or problems.

A visitation will be held at ASHBURNHAM FUNERAL HOME, 840 Armour Road, Peterborough, on Thursday, May 9th, 2019 from 10:00 – 11:30 am, with a funeral service to follow at 11:30 am in the chapel.  Reverend Cathy Underhill officiating.  A reception will follow.  In memory of Malcolm, donations may be made to Habitat for Humanity or a charity of your choice would be appreciated, and may made online at www.AshburnhamFuneral.ca
