 Joyce Isobel Elizabeth Brown(nee Pearson)


 

Born Lot 26 Concession 16 Smith Township March 6, 1925 to Howard and Evelina (nee.Junkin) Pearson. Died March 10, 2018 at PRHC Palliative Care surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was a graduate of SS#10 Smith PCVS Peterborough and Nicholls/Civic Hospital as a registered nurse in 1946. She married Roger Evan Armstrong (d.1975) October 5, 1946 in Wesley United Church. Together they farmed Lot 26 and raised 6 children. Joyce pursued a nursing career at first part time, then full time until her retirement. In 1985 she married Roy J. Brown (d.2008), a long- time family friend, and moved to Calgary returning to Ontario for summers at their Green’s Lake Cottage. Joyce was always very active in Church growing up and continued to be involved with Wesley U.C. and a Baptist congregation in Calgary, AB. She was a lifetime member of Wesley U.C.W., sung in the choir, and various other duties in Wesley Church. Joyce is survived by her daughters Marilyn McArthur (Brian), Rosemary Chatten (Charles), Linda Jackman (Robert) and her sons Gary (Ettie), Bryan (Karen Juckes), and Doug (Kathy) Armstrong. Stepmother of Ken (Mary Lynn) Brown, Kathleen (George) Kawalanskas, Karen Brown (Ted Telletier), Keith Brown, Karyl (Pete Richardson), and Kevin Brown. Survived by 26 Grandchildren, 6 Step-Grandchildren, 40 Great-Grandchildren, 7 Step Great-Grandchildren, and Great-Great-Grandchild MacKenzie. Predeceased by her grandson William Roger McArthur, and step-grand-daughter Diane Brown.

Friends and relatives may call at the Ashburnham Funeral Home & Reception Centre (840 Armour Road Peterborough) on Wednesday, March 14th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., and one hour prior to the Service. Funeral Service will be held Thursday March 15th, 2018 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel followed by a reception. Interment will follow at Lakefield Cemetery. As expression of sympathy memorial donations may be made to Palliative Care PRHC, Heart and Stroke Foundation, or the Breast Assessment Centre of PRHC.
