JOHN LESLIE PLUNKETT
July 12, 1937 – August 22, 2017
Peacefully at home after a long illness. John will be lovingly remembered by Lorna (Myles), his wife of fifty-seven years and his immediate family which includes their sons Dean (Amy and her daughter Alaina) of Raleigh, North Carolina and Ian (Cindy and their daughter Hannah) of Brooklin, Ontario. John's beloved extended family includes: Elizabeth (Myles) and Robert Knuckle and their children Richard, Laura, Mark and Kelly; Dianne (Myles) Pazaratz and her children David and Erin. He is lovingly survived by Ron and Wendy (Dantzer) Gilmore, Lyn Klamph (Dantzer), and Stephen and Judy Dantzer – all of Alberta and Molly Thomson (MacTavish) of Markham. He was predeceased by his sister Marilyn Dantzer and his brothers-in-law Donald Pazaratz, Quentin (Danny) Dantzer and Sandy MacTavish. John was a well-known local salesman, an original builder of Westgate Speedway (now Peterborough Speedway), and a former member of the Peterborough Curling Club as well as the Ennismore Optimist Club. Special thanks to all of the PRHC Dialysis team, We Care nurses Linda, Andrew and Stephanie, and Care Partner PSW's, especially Jane for their kind and supportive care. Cremation has taken place. There will a celebration of John's life at Baxter Creek Golf Course on Saturday, September 2 at 2 o'clock. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Fleming College Plunkett Family Bursary to support students in financial need, or to the PRHC Dialysis Unit.
He was a good man who will be fondly remembered.
